Archaeological Museum of Tigranakert has presented more than 30 exhibits IX-VII centuries BC
In the archaeological Museum of Tigranakert in Nagorno Karabakh opened the exhibition of artifacts discovered during the excavation of a barrow near the village of nor Haykajour Markerscase district.
The exhibition features more than 30 exhibits, Dating from the ninth-eighth centuries BC: ceramic vessels, jewelry, bronze parts of a belt, gold jewelry in the form of animals, detail of the tomb, the iron weapon, the wooden parts of the staff, the correspondent of the “Caucasian knot”.
Part of the findings is being reviewed in Armenia, because the exact numbers will be known after all laboratory examinations, told the correspondent of “Caucasian knot” in the Department of tourism and historical environment protection of the Ministry of economy of Nagorno-Karabakh.
For excavations to State service of protection of the historic environment has invited archaeologists from Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia. The expedition included four archaeologist and a research group of seven experts, told the “Caucasian knot” at the Ministry of economy of the unrecognized Republic.
“In the territory of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) for the first time carried out the excavation of the tomb”, — told the “Caucasian knot” the head of excavations, research fellow of the Institute of archaeology and Ethnography of Armenia, archaeologist, Orangebear.
“External signs of robberies of the tomb was not noticed, because the excavations have yielded the expected result. The mausoleum is unique in its structure, the input surface. In the tomb — ceramic vessels and wares, jewelry, found the bones of sacrificed animals, edged weapons, attributes, power, vessels in the form of animals, which were usually staged in the coffin of the deceased for the afterlife,” said Yengibaryan.
The archaeologist noted that “Armenia has not preserved these mounds, because any finding, discovered on the territory of Artsakh is invaluable”.
In the scientific world has already attracted the interest of the mausoleum village of nor Haykajour, because have more publications and possibly the involvement of international experts to study the findings, the expert added.
“Found in the tomb of the artifacts are of world importance”, — said the correspondent of “Caucasian knot” the head of the scientific research team of the archaeological expedition, which conducted excavations of the mound near the village of nor Haykajour, Ivan Gabrielyan.
In his words, “although the study and research findings is an expensive process, the importance of the excavation obliges to continue the expedition.”
“Excavations have clarified the origin of these mausoleums”, — told the “Caucasian knot”, the Deputy Minister of economy of Nagorno Karabakh Sergey Shahverdyan.
“Excavations of burial mounds, mausoleums near the village of nor Haykajour refuted the theory that they are of Scythian culture. Excavations and archaeological finds prove that the mounds on the territory of Artsakh is the culture of the people of Urartu, the ancestors of the Armenians”, — said Shahverdyan.
In all areas between the villages of nor Haykajour and nor Maraga — a field with numerous mounds, told the “Caucasian knot” the head of programs of the Department of tourism of the Ministry of economy of Nagorno-Karabakh Artak Grigoryan.
“For excavation was selected a small area of 24 by 18 meters with a mound height of 1.5 meters. In subsequent years the area to explore the tombs under the mounds will be expanded,” — said Grigoryan.
He added that there are plans that the tomb near the village of nor Haykajour will be included in one of the tourist routes, and tourists will have the opportunity to see artifacts not only in the Museum of Tigranakert, but also a place where they were found.
